Connect to your VPS via SSH
Table of Contents
There are many SSH clients available, this guide is based on the free Windows open-source SSH client called “Putty”. You can download the latest version of Putty from the authors website at https://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html
- Open Putty and enter your VPS’ IP address or DNS Hostname into the “Hostname” box, then click “Open”
- If this is the first time using Putty to connect to a server, you may see a security warning asking you to verify & trust the connection, click “Yes” to continue
- Enter your “root” username & password when prompted and you’ll now be connected to the SSH console
