What are name servers and DNS records?
DNS records are used to point your domain name to the server that is hosting that particular service.
Name Servers hold these DNS records.
For example when you visited domaincheck.co.uk your web browser didn’t know where on the Internet the Domaincheck website was located, it does however know where to find the root name servers.
The root name servers told your computer how to find the dot uk name servers which in turn directed you to one of our name servers.
Our name servers then told your computer where on the Internet the website files are located.
Your web browser then knows which server it needs to connect to in order to download the website.
This process only takes a fraction of a second to complete.
