Whois Information
Every domain name entry in the registry database has a set of contact information attached to it. You can look up this information using the Whois system.
The information contained in the database varies from one top level domain to another, but usually contains a name, address and phone number for the domain owner, as well as an admin, technical and billing contact for the domain.
It is important that this information is kept up-to-date as it is these contact details that are used for sending renewal notices and if you ever need to transfer your domain.
