Transfer your domain name to a new owner
If you no longer have a use for your domain name you may want to transfer it to a new owner. The transfer process depends on the type of domain name:
Nominet Domains (.uk)
To transfer a .uk domain you will need to contact Nominet directly. To change the ownership of a domain both the old and the new domain owner will need to fill in a form and post or fax it to Nominet, along with a cheque for their admin fee. They then check through this data and change the registrant name in their database. For more information, see http://www.nominet.org.uk/registrants/maintain/transfer/
All Other Domains
For most other domains changing the ownership is just a matter of changing the whois information for the domain. To do this we require either:
- A written request from the current domain owner, on company letterhead paper (if applicable), sent by fax or by post, and including full contact details for the new owner.
or
- The same information, but submitted as a support ticket in your customer control panel.
We will then update the whois information and contact details on the account.
