Top level domain
The term "Top Level Domain" or TLD refers to all of the domains that have a certain suffix. The domain name system is a heirarchical system; domains consist of a series of labels seperated by ".", with the rightmost label being the most significant. This label therefore represents the domain's "top level", e.g. uk or com.
